ABOUT THE UNIT

429th Separate Regiment of Unmanned Systems "Achilles" is a volunteer unit formed in the early days of the full-scale invasion.
Main objectives: aerial reconnaissance, taking down of enemy forces and equipment using drones. The regiment commander is a volunteer and ATO (Anti-Terrorist Operation) veteran, Yuriy Fedorenko.

The backbone of the unit consisted of volunteers who formed the rifle company of the 128th Battalion of the 112th Brigade of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry on February 24, 2022. Later, in the process of performing combat missions in the Kharkiv direction, the company began to use drones for aerial reconnaissance and artillery adjustment. The company participated in the Kharkiv counteroffensive alongside the 92nd Assault Brigade, to which it was assigned.
On January 26, 2023, ACHILLES became one of the first companies of the strike unmanned aerial systems as part of the 92nd Assault Brigade.
The Combat UAV Company "ACHILLES" – the top UAV unit – achieved significant results in defeating enemy forces and assets. Consequently, within a year, on January 31, 2024, the company was expanded to a battalion. In 2023-2024, "ACHILLES" destroyed and damaged 19,853 legitimate enemy military targets.
Due to significant performance indicators, in January 2025, the battalion was scaled up into the 429th Separate Regiment of Unmanned Systems "Achilles" within the Ukrainian Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. On September 5, 2025, the "ACHILLES" regiment joined the Unmanned Systems Forces.

OUR COMMANDER

Since the TDO, he commanded the 4th Company of the 128th Battalion within the 112th Brigade. After the liberation of the Kyiv region, the Battalion was deployed to Slobozhanshchyna. Just before the Kharkiv counteroffensive operation, the 128th Battalion was taken to Kyiv for rotation; however, Yuriy's 4th Company stayed behind. He ensured that his unit remained assigned to the 92nd Brigade.
Due to his openness to innovation, a standard rifle company initially began engaging in artillery aerial reconnaissance to adjust the fire of the 92nd Brigade's artillery, and later started operating with strike UAVs.
The unit demonstrated outstanding results. Therefore, when the Commander-in-Chief issued the order to establish companies of assault UAVs, the former brigade commander of the 92nd Motorized Rifle Brigade and Hero of Ukraine, Pavlo Fedosenko, proposed that Yuriy and his team become part of the 92nd Brigade family.
The unit is democratic, to the extent possible within the army. Command orders are always carried out, but the team seeks the most effective and safe methods, devising different scenarios for events, because the commander understands the value of each soldier's life, for whom their family stands behind.
In 2024, he entered the "UP-100" rating in the "Defenders" category.
